Is the backpack wired correctly? (Video Out to Video In on monitor) also check to see that the power supply is plugged in correctly.

Is the backpack power switch turned on?

Is the Flat screen set to the correct video source? ie: Video In or S-Video. This control can be found on the Monitor remote control as well as accessed on the front panel of the monitor.
