Troubleshooting Capture

Be sure that the “NET Service” is located in Services.

This can be accessed though Control Panel > Administrative tools > Services.

If the service is not present, the capture utility was not installed correctly.

Be sure that the “NET Service (1.02 for black dot VirtGp utility)” is running.

(Generally, there should not be more than one instance of NET service running)

The service can be started or restarted from this window as well.

If another device is present in Game Controllers, it may interfere with capture.

Control Panel > Game Controllers.

To check whether or not this issue exists, see Checking Capture Buttons.

Controllers may be removed here or through Device Manger.

Control Panel > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager.

Sometimes the default will be restored to an existing device here.

Some game controllers will try to reinstall themselves after removal.

If this occurs, the device in question can be disabled through Device Manager.

Once this is done, it should no longer be listed in game controllers.

Sometimes a faulty 15 foot repeater cable can cause an instance of proper video feed but no capture capabilities. If video exists with no capture, try eliminating the repeater cable to diagnose.

Be sure that the correct settings were chosen from the dropdown menus in the VirtGp installer.

If unsure, see Installing Capture Utility for appropriate settings for your imaging software.

If this was not done, you will likely still get some signal in Game Controllers but no capture within your software.

Capture utility can be uninstalled in reverse order (Step 2 > Step 1) through the VirtGp installer.

Reinstall to adjust Mode and Button Settings, this is the only way to do this after install.

The NET Service will need to be restarted if this is done.

On occasion, a low-power issue may present itself as a capture issue.

This might occur with a camera that apparently has no capture function

A powered hub with a standalone power source (wall power) should solve this issue

This can sometimes be diagnosed by powering down the LED lights and then checking the capture function.
